My work is often called subversive.

Not because I have a political agenda. But because I confront expectations.
Your expectations. And mine.

I constantly wonder whether the way things are is the way they ought to be.
I can’t help it. It’s just the way I’m wired.

I’ve also disciplined myself to eliminate the unnecessary. Whether it’s an
extraneous adjective in a piece of writing or a gratuitous camera move in a film.

The result is often deceptively simple. The pieces I create seem almost inevitable.

I’ve been told that I create work of remarkable truth and beauty. I prefer to think
that what I do is discover remarkable truth and beauty. Then I present it in a way
that others can discover it for themselves.
